Alcorta crianza 2005

This cellar belongs to Domecq. I think it is a good quality/price ratio (around 2.5 EUR/bottle +16% VAT here) wine. It is pleasant to drink this wine. Nevertheless, I realize that it is quite hard to find in some well-known shops (quilez-la fuente, Vilaviniteca). Perhaps they are more specialized in direct sells to restaurants.

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2003

Marqués de Murrieta Reserva 2003 DO Rioja

I must say that I received a gift of three Rioja wines:

  1. Viña Tondonia reserva 1999
  2. Lealtanza Reserva 2000
  3. Marqués de Murriera 2003

And I am only satisfied with Marqués de Murrieta 2003. It is the best of this set, it has a nice post-taste and retro-nasal flavour. Nevertheless, as usual with Rioja wines, it is not competitive. For this price (around 16 EUR) you can find a winde range of wines. The pending item is the texture, although this one is over the average. As usual, Rioja has water texture. The unique exception is Antión selección and San Vicente 2004, but they are not cheap.

El Tofio, goat cheese

El Tofio

This is goat cheese from Fuerteventura, covered with paprika ("pimentón"). The price is reasonable (below 12 EUR/Kg in local supermarkets, more than two times this price at the Fuerteventura airport).
Although my favourite cheese is made with sheep milk, this one is also very good. Worth to taste it!

Cerveza Dorada

This is the beer made in Tenerife island. In my opinion, it is slightly worse than Tropical. Anyway, both beers belong to the same owner, Compañía Cervecera de Canarias S.A.

Cerveza Tropical

This is the beer made in Las Palmas Island. In my opinion it is slightly better than Tropical. it is reasonably good.

Ron Arehucas Dorado

This is a mild, plenty of taste Rhum made in Las Palmas (Canary Islands). Its price is around 13.5 EUR. Worth to taste it!

Stratus blanco

Stratus Blanco

This is a Malvasia "cepa de pie franco" from Geria (Lanzarote). It has an interesting taste, although in my opinion the quality/price ratio is not competitive with other wines. It is quite acid. The nicest thing of this wine is the label and bottle design, which is really original.
This cellar was inaugurated May the 2th 2008. thus, it is really a new mark. Although it is hard to find this wine, you can buy it online here for 10 EUR/bottle.

El cangrejo colorao

This restaurant is really close to the sea. Nevertheless, in an industrial area (plenty of large boats). I must say that, although the meals looks and tastes reasonable, I had strong problems in my stomach during night, and I took luch (that day, I couldn't take dinner, because I was feeling really bad).

The speciality is the rice , which is a really main course. Thus, we only took same starters while waitting for the rice.

"arroz caldoso de marisco". We got two pans like this one (which is really deep!, around 10 cm), for nine people. Thus, the amount of meal is really large! the quality is reasonably good.
we couldn't take dessert because we were too much filled up. We drank several coffees and spirits, beers and two bottles of wine, and we paid 23 EUR. Very good quality/price ratio.

Casa Marcos (2/2)

This is the second post devoted to this place. You will find the first post here. Although I am not satisfied with the landscape of Fuerteventura (it reminds me "los monegros"), this restaurant is in a better area. Maybe for this reason the village is called "villaverde". You will enjoy more green colour in this area ;-)

Another funny detail: they have another blackboard for Ribera del duero wine, and another one for Rioja.

Casa Marcos (1/2)

This is the best of the resturants that I tasted in Fuerteventura. Even the place is great (see the second post). Price, quality, quantity, service, OUTSTANDING!
It is worth to travel to this place (if you are in Fuerteventura, obviously).

This "Tapa" won the first price in a competition in Fuerteventura: "carpaccio de langostinos y gulas con tosta de maíz dulce y salmón marinado"

C/Ramon Soto Morales 25, Caleta de Fuste, Fuerteventura

Although Caleta de Fuste is a fully touristic place, this portuguese restaurant offers good quality and prices. We tasted three kinds of cod (the national dish of Portugal). In addition, following the portuguese style, you will get a really large amount of meal.
This restaurant is a good option if you are in Caleta de Fuste for luch or dinner time.
