Czech wine (1/2)

It seems that although there is good wine in Czech Republic, I was unable to taste it. Some people say that the area around Praga is not the best producer in Czech Republic. For this area, beer is much better, and certainly it is in this case. Another interesting question is: which is the reason to put the name "portugal" in their bottles? I saw several different bottles with this "mark".
The following two wines were specially bad (both, white and red).

Metamorphis

Metamorphis
Malá Štupartská 5/636
Prague

This is a reasonable restaurant in Prague. The decoration of the restaurant is quite nice. My advice: do not ask for a large amount of dishes. As usual in Czech Republic, they fill up them too much!

Unfortunately, they hadn't dark beer and this Granat is not specially good.

Armagnac

In Francouzska Restaurant, Prague, they have a tray plenty of Armagnac bottles. One per year, starting in 1936. Unfortunately, I hadn't chance to taste it. I also saw a similar selection in Castelnaudary, in France, at Hotel Restaurant du centre et du lauragais (a very good place to taste cassoulet!).
Anyway, the price of one very small glass of this selection of armagnacs is not cheap.

Francouzska Restaurant, Prague (1/2)

Francouzska Restaurant
Namesti Republiky 5
Old Town, Prague 1
Czech Republic

Francouzska (French Restaurant) is located inside one of Europe's finest Art Nouveau buildings, the beautiful Municipal House. I will devote another post to the place.
Head chef Jirí Kral is captain of the National Team of Cooks and Confectioners of the Czech Republic. When he is not cooking for diners at the Francouzska Restaurant, he is providing catering services for the president of the Czech Republic!
the quality of the meals is really outstanding! another history is the wine. An annoying thing is that they provided two different red wines and they mixed them in the glass. It seemed to me that they were unable to realize that they were two different classes.

U Parasutistu

U Parasutistu
Resslova 7, Prague
In my opinion, this is an authentic place, outside the touristic area (although close to the "dancing buildings").
You will feel the real Czech Republic here. Authentic atmosphere and cheap products. It is worth to enphasize the outstanding dark beer. Very aromathic and easy-to-drink (low amount of gas and alcohol)

A sample of the menu
blond beer (not specially good)
dark beer (outstanding!)

assorted cheese
excellent fresh salmon
potato and camembert cheese (too heavy for the stomach)

beers and alcoholic degrees in Prague

In Prague, there is a strong measurement system. You can drink a beer of 10º and realize that in fact, it is really light.
In this blackboard, you can find a conversion from this strage system to alcoholic degrees. Someone knows the meaning of this strange measurement system?

Sv. Norbert Autumn dark beer

The Strahov Monastic Brewery
Address:Strahovské nádvoří 301118 00 Prague 1
This is an excellent dark beer, high density, some taste to licorice. The place is also great.
Special lager (dark beer)
Autumn, non-filteredGrade 16%, alcohol content 6.3% Ingredients: Barley malt, adjusted hop, water, yeasts. Whole malt, bottom fermented beer cooked from freshly harvested hops. The taste is malt with traces (tones) of caramel and roasted malt, but at the same time with higher bitterness and hops flavor. In Germany and other places in the world, it belongs under the Bock category. On the draft always from September 28th until out of stock.

La Crema Canela

La Crema Canela
Ptge. Madoz 6, Barcelona

Although this is a great place for dinner (or at least it was in the past) the fixed price menu that they provide for lunch is much more austere than it was in the past. Few range of dishes and some of them not too much elaborated.
