This is a nice pastry shop that produces outstanding "coques" for a very reasonable price (below 10 eur per Kg). Much better than a pizza. Outstanding quality/price ratio.

This is another example of fix-price menu (11 eur per person). Very well cooked artichokes, although some of them were slightly hard to masticate. However, this is quite usual with artichokes. main course: Good quality calamars or extremely well cut "carrillera" (galtes de porc), with very good potatoes.

These are some more dishes from the menu. As usual, outstanding starters.

Extremely fresh and well-cooked fish. However, the amount of fish is too tight.

cod:

tarta sobrevia: this is the most expensive dessert. I guess that the "sobrevia pie" is this dust on the dish. This combination is far from being successful.
coffee
the invoice: worth to mention that they charge 3,5 eur + 8% VAT for a 1 liter bottle of water from Veri. I apologize for this, but this is a shame. If you want to charge this crazy amount of money for this basic product. At least, you should provide solán de Cabras...or rise the price of the coffee (really cheap) and reduce the price of the water.
Nevertheless, the restaurant is cheap: 35,9 eur per person for a very complete meal of high quality. Worth to go there.

this is the first post devoted to the menu of Carmen ("a la carta"). Although I have been several times eating the fix price menu, this is the first time that I choose different dishes. For this reason, I include the whole menu in four photographs.
The first impression is that they offer a large selection of extremely creative dishes. Congratulations to Ivan Vilanova for his innovation capability! In addition, the prices seem quite reasonable.
There is another menu for wines. this is another history: I must say that the wines are not well selected. In addition, most of them are Somontano. This restaurant should provide a larger and better selection.



This is an OUTSTANDING dish: macarrones con queso de cabra fresco, flores y trufa blanca. I really enjoyed this dish. Absolutely superb.
octopus: this is a quite famous dish in this restaurant. According to my colleagues, this day was not as good as usual. Nevertheless, it was correct and interesting.
Green aspargus with smashed peas, flowers, etc.: this is another OUTSTANDING dish. Even the smashed peas are really delicate and speciall. worth to taste it.

Rodaballo: this was a very good quality fish as well as a large amount. They offered it as well as other dishes, outside the written menu. I must say that I think they should anounce the price is advance. it is unfair to discover at the end of the meal that they charge 20 eur for this dish, specially because the most expensive fish in the menu was 15 eur. If they don't say anything about the price, you should expect a similar price than the others. However, considering the quality and the amount, I must say that they are not cheating.
desserts:
"torrija": I am not satisfied with the texture of this dish. Nevertheless, "torrijas" are not my favourite dessert.
gin tonic "akelarre": this was really impressive. I enjoyed it a lot. My recommendation: mix the gintonic gelatine with the icecream. The sugar sheet is too hard for the theets. My recommendation: they should produce it in a thinner format.

This is a nice restaurant that offers good quality/price fixed price menus (during lunch time). The price in 2010 is the same than 2009, which means that in fact they have reduced the price (the VAT has been rised in Spain from 7% to 8% ).
the aubergine with shellfish is OUTSTANDING. Very high quality shellfish.
Nevertheless, the cod, the icecream and the wine (formerly it was Valcantara viñas viejas) does not offer the same quality of the previous year. Anyway, it is still a good quality/price menu for 11 eur.

congratulations to the outstanding man Ivan Vilanova and his team. He really deserves this award!!!
I strongly recommend to attend this place. I hope that he won't increase the prices too much...

HUESCA.- El altoaragonés Iván Vilanova, de Tamarite de Litera, ha sido distinguido como el Mejor Cocinero Aragonés del año 2009-2010 por la Asociación de Cocineros y Jóvenes Cocineros de Aragón. Vilanova ha querido destacar que este galardón es el que "más ilusión" le ha hecho de todos los que le han concedido hasta la fecha.
Este reconocimiento le fue entregado el pasado domingo, en la celebración del XVII aniversario de dicha asociación, a la que asistieron 140 personas y en la que el viceconsejero de Turismo del Gobierno de Aragón, Javier Callizo, ejerció de anfitrión y aprovechó para alabar el trabajo del gremio de cocineros como parte importante de la actividad turística de la Comunidad.
Por su parte, el presidente de la Asociación, Domingo Mancho Mairal, comentó que "este XVII Aniversario sirve, un año más, para reconocer, por todo lo alto, la labor de toda una vida a los cocineros y cocineras que están trabajando duramente en esta profesión".
Durante el acto, además del mencionado galardón a Iván Vilanova, se premió a Pilar Lamota Guillén y Rafael Sicilia Vico, por toda una vida dedicada a la cocina; Joaquín Burillo Royo, por su destacada labor profesional, y Antonio Arrabal Jiménez, como joven cocinero el año. Además, el periodista José Miguel Martínez Urtasun recogió el premio en nombre de Gastro Aragón por su destacada labor en pro de la información gastronómica, y el director general de Pastores Grupo Cooperativo, Paco Marcén, por su labor a favor de la investigación con la presentación de la nueva carne orientada para el sector de la hostelería, "agnus ibérico". Como reconocimiento especial por su apoyo a la gastronomía, se otorgó un galardón a la Concejalía de Turismo del Ayuntamiento de Teruel.

La Jaima

This is my second time in this restaurant. Although the first time I was really satisfied, I must say that this is not the case in this occasion: the vegetables where not very fresh (mainly quite "dry"), and not very good taste. At least, the second salad (see below).
The meat was also quite tasteless and some portions were hard to bite, due to the presence of nerves.
The desserts where great. Specially the cake, which it seems to be made outside the restaurant, in pasteleria Zanuy.
In addition, I pay 100 EUR for two people. Thus, it is an expensive place. For this price you are plenty of another options. In addition, the restaurant is really dark. I apologize for the low quality photos.

This is a new restaurant that offers high quality meals for a very reasonable price. You can get a fixed price menu for lunch for 11 EUR.
the menu includes a very surprising wine. It is a very pleasant wine included in a very cheap fixed-price menu. Congratulations for the selection of this wine (Valcantara old vine garnacha) as house-wine!
"Olivas de aragón":
